The Sensu Punkah Ostrich
The Pharaoh
The design of The Sensu Punkah Ostrich is inspired by the opulent ceremonial fans of the Egyptian pharaohs. Fanning was not only an early form of cooling, but also a symbol of absolute power and opulence. The fan is crafted from 24 exceptionally large and beautiful ostrich wing feathers from South Africa. Such feathers are now rare and correspondingly precious. After cleaning and sterilization, the feathers are individually selected by hand and arranged into a harmonious semicircle. The transparent and white elements of the fan are complemented by either 72 sparkling crystals or 72 polished brass elements. When switched off, the fan automatically aligns itself vertically, becoming a striking focal point in any room.
